Chart: This Stock Has a 80%+ Chance of a PullBack — Here’s Why

This stock is screaming an 80%+ chance of a pullback — traders, pay attention.

Long-term investors: steer clear at these inflated levels.

🙅 Am I buying? Absolutely not.

⏳ Am I shorting? Not yet — I’m waiting for the perfect entry with the right risk-to-reward.

The difference-maker? A clear framework and solid data. It’s what’s transformed my confidence in trading and investing.

Today, I’ll show you how to spot these high-probability setups, when to strike, and — just as importantly — when to sit on your hands.

Stacking the Odds — The Pillar of Technical Analysis

In Technical Analysis, layering multiple signals together boosts your odds of success.

With one indicator, the odds of success might be 60%, two indicators — 70%, add a third one — it jumps to 80%.

Since it is based on probability, nothing is ever guaranteed.

That’s why having a clear game plan before every trade is crucial — and sticking to it consistently.

Only then can you realistically target an 80% win rate, turning 8 out of 10 trades into successes.

Before we dive in the real world example, let’s explore a new concept — topping tail — and see how it boosted the probability for our setup.

What is a Topping Tail?

A Topping Tail forms when a stock rallies hard but then gets aggressively sold off, causing the candle to close near its low.

This shows that buyers tried to push the price up aggressively, but sellers entered the market, overpowering the demand and pushing the price back down.

In short, late buyers get trapped → to smart sellers (often institutions) take profits and initiate short positions.

Key Characteristics of a Topping Tail

This formation tells us that buying pressure is drying up at elevated levels and bearish momentum is likely to follow.

Does the Color Matter for the Topping Tail?

For a Topping Tail, the length of the tail (wick) is far more important than the candle’s color.

In short:
✅ Long topping tail = key signal.
✅ Red close = stronger reversal sign.
✅ Green close = still valid, but more cautious confirmation is needed.

The Psychology

The tail shows buyers tried to drive the stock higher, but sellers were strong enough to resist and push the price back down.

It reflects a shift in control — from exuberance-driven buying to confident profit-taking and selling. That’s why traders see it as a potential sign of reversal: the exhaustion may be setting in, and supply is overwhelming demand.

How to Trade Topping Tails?

Identifying these candles is only the first step. Execution is where a good setup becomes a successful trade.

For example, if the high of the Topping Tail is $100, and the low is $90, the smart trader will wait to enter at a retrace of 50%, i.e. $95 to short.

Some additional rules:

When Do They Fail?

Not every setup plays out. Knowing when your thesis is wrong is essential for survival.

Topping Tail Failure: Any candle that closes above the high of the Topping Tail.

At this point, exit quickly — the pattern is no longer valid. The buyers have proven they still have the strength to negate the seller’s initial rejection.

Example: If a topping tail forms with a high of $100 and a low of $90, a smart trader looks to enter a short position around $95$. The trade should be exited if any subsequent candle closes above the topping tail’s high of $100

Walmart — Daily Chart (Multiple Factor Trade Setup)

Factor 1: The price had retraced back to its All-Time High (ATH) resistance level (high of ~106$). This marks the second test of this resistance (the first being in August).
Note: Repeatedly testing a resistance level tends to weaken it over time.

Factor 2: The uptrend linethat started from the April lows has been broken and confirmed below, which typically causes the former support to flip into a new resistance level.

The price has rallied to test this new resistance (scene of the crime retrace).

Overall, the technical setup is favorable for initiating a short trade.

While WMT is not an extremely volatile or overextended stock, it is clearly testing some key resistance levels.

Long term investors should caution into buying into this levels, until the price action breaks the resistance or negates the topping tail (closes above the high).

For Traders: The better entry point will be at the 50% retrace ~104.9$, w/ a stop loss of any close above the topping tail ~106.11$.

Final Thoughts

Topping Tails are one of the most reliable candlestick reversal patterns. They are a clear reflection of a change in market psychology — the end of a surge and the start of distribution.

Used correctly, especially by adding multiple supporting indicators (like RSI divergence or a volume spike) and adhering to the 50% retrace rule, these patterns will significantly improve your entry timing and risk management for short trades.
